Update: Sickness and Snow...

So for over a week now the Page family hasn't been feeling too well! I noticed that Evan started off with a little cough around January 4th or so and it gradually got worse. Then over the weekend we started noticing Eathan having a little cough and stuffiness as well. Ugh! Then on this past Sunday night a huge snow storm came through, and we woke up to about 8 inches of snow on the ground. This didn't go over well with their sinuses!
Evan has had sinus infection after sinus infection and tonsillitis here and there as well. We noticed right after his 1st birthday that his tonsils are always swollen... I mean HUGE! When he gets sick it is almost completely swelled up! Then Eathan always catches it from him... so, it seems like they get sick, and then they're on antibiotics for about two weeks, and then they're better for about two weeks, and then they're sick again! All winter long! We're suppose to be meeting with an ENT soon to talk about having his tonsils and adenoids out. We actually already met with one ENT, but she up and left her practice without any warning! I had a weird feeling about her anyway... I am glad she left! We're getting referred to one that is closer to home. I pray this guy knows what he's doing and isn't crazy like the other lady! I am just waiting for Evan to finish his antibiotics and then we're going to call the pediatrician. I hope that when Evan gets his tonsils out that it helps him to stay well and helps to keep Eathan well also. If Eathan continues to get sick, I guess we'll start talking about him next. I am really nervous about my 3 year old going into surgery. I guess any mother is nervous for their child to undergo anesthesia and surgery. I am mostly worried about him not understanding and being scared though. I don't want him to be traumatized. I know it is for the best though, and I know that the sooner we do this the better too. God is always in control, and I trust in Him!
With all of that being said, Monday morning when we woke up to the snow I had to go out before the boys got up and get a few pics of the winter wonderland! We haven't had this much snow since 1993, I think. So, it definitely had to be documented.

Winter has never been the most fun for us, but we make the best out of it, and even though the boys weren't feeling 100% we still had to get out in the snow and play a little! Here are a few photos of my little snow babies...

Sliding into the snow!

Eathan having a ball!

We didn't stay out long because, of course, I didn't want them to get any worse. The next day I started feeling the effects of the cold on my sinuses, and the boys were not getting any better either! Of course, the doctor's office was closed when I called both Monday and Tuesday. So, on Wednesday we took them to the ER, and finally got them some antibiotics. Evan had a sinus infection, and Eathan had a sinus infection and bilateral ear infections... lovely. Now, I hate having to use antibiotics and I would rather not use them, but Bless their little hearts they have suffered long enough!
They are slowly, but surely showing improvement. I have tried to help them along as much as I know how. I have the vaporizer constantly running, I rub them down with baby vicks vapor rub a few times a day, I am giving them their antibiotic plus a cough suppressant/decongestant that the ER doctor also prescribed,  using little noses saline solution religiously, and, of course the most importantly, praying for their health non-stop! Like I said before, God knows, and He is in control. We have to go through trial and tribulations to learn and to grow in our personal relationship with Him, and to truly be thankful for the good times.
I am still feeling a under the weather myself, but hopefully in a few more days I will be feeling much better. If not, then I guess I will be making a visit to the doctor too.
I plan to make shorter, more frequent updates from now on. Maybe twice a month or so. I am really enjoying blogging so far, and thank you to any of you who are reading my posts regularly. Have a blessed night!
